Most of us have only been exposed to the concept of infinite loops while on hold with your credit card or phone company, but infinite loops can also be a beautiful and less frustrating concept not involving a phone. Aesthetically popularized by M.C. Escher, Escher himself would be feverishly sharpening his pencil if got a gander of this infinite loop forming table. Inspired by the “slow and perpetual flow of the Nile River,” the “Endless Nile” table by Karim Rashid, is a fluid form of DuPont Corian molded over a steel structure on a wooden base. As part of the newly formed Design Republic of Egypt brand, Mr. Rashid’s composition for Amr Helmy Designs hopes to showcase Egyptian’s take on international design trends around the globe. |

On first sight, the Octocube is all smoke and mirrors. You could spend quite a while trying to figure out what it is or does. Go on. See if you can figure it out. If you can’t work it out from the pictures alone then how about the name. Octocube. Any help? The sharper eye will observe the 2 cables/pipes at the rear so surely it does something right? Designer Vivien Muller has created this little mystery for your Thursday morning enjoyment. Give up? Entirely created from a single 90 degree elbow, the Octocube builds up into a radiant heater with a large surface area, and the inherent flexibility and modularity of the elbow. It is designed to be a sculptural heater that fits in with any interior. |

The Do Hit Chair by Droog Design is a a cube made with 0.4? thick steel. To mold your own chair, just grab a sledgehammer and start beating the hell out of it. Once you’re happy with the design, take a rest from the exertion by grabbing a seat on your new chair. The cost of a Do It Chair is a huge turn-off though. $6718 for a pre-hammered chair and $5924 for your non-hammered piece of steel. |
